There is Eyman whose 1053 Initiative won and may stop any raising of ferry fares and tolls which would lose a projected income of $400,000 from tolling alone.
3. Even if Eyman is overturned the courts and lawyers will be very busy for a long time. They have not even settled the cost overrun debacle yet.
4. If the Governor calls the Legislature back to pass the fees and tolls it
might require a 2/3 vote of the Legislature. GOOD LUCK! Most legislators from outside King County, and especially the Counties East of the divide are not going to be suckered again. They still remember the Cost Overrun Debacle.
5. Two foot shoulders in the NB lanes of the tunnel will not accommodate wheelchairs as wheelchairs are off loaded on the right side of Access vans.
6. All this yammering about safety of the Viaduct vs. the DBT is just so much posturing. The tunnel will be mired in the same kind of muck WSDOT says is unstable for the viaduct.
We need to retrofit the viaduct, enclose it with a plexiglass dome for great views and to cut the noise level and get going. Forget the visions of umbrellas, tables and chairs along the waterfront we see in the artist’s renderings. After all we have a working waterfront not a condominium haven.
Remember some of the great things the City Council and previous Mayor funded like the toilets which cost hundreds of thousands dollars only to be sold on E Bay for a few thousand? Or the S.L.U.T which runs almost parallel to the University buses and has taken a great bite out of Seattle Transit? All of those expenditures were made to make Seattle a “World Class City”. It is time to cut the losses and face reality

Dorli Raineymoderatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04494338045691850807noreply@blogger.com
